Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao insisted that the long-term pay-off will be worth any compromise. But if you play that game, the channel initiator will just blacklist you and you have to come up with a new node ID if you want to have channels with them, because force closing on someone is just, yeah, not a gentleman’s agreement. Tipping is a way to send (usually) small amounts of money as appreciation for someone else’s work. The use of anonymity networks can go a long way to improving the privacy of Bitcoin software. Still, for many end users, it’s fine to trade off slightly slower speed for much improved privacy. Multisignature payments being indistinguishable from single-signature payments also gives the creators of both types of payments greater privacy. This gives the creator complete control over block production, allowing them to choose the rate of block production or when forks occur. Coins protected by taproot may be spent either by satisfying one of the committed scripts or by simply providing a signature that verifies against the public key (allowing the script to be kept private). Blocks on signets are only valid if they’re signed by a key used to create that signet.
In the context of Bitcoin, sidechains use a mechanism where bitcoins are deposited into a contract on the Bitcoin block chain and an equal number of bitcoins are created on the sidechain for spending. Because anonymity networks allow the creation of a large number of false identities, systems that solely use them are vulnerable to sybil attacks that can become eclipse attacks which feed a different block chain to clients and nodes than what the rest of the network is using, possibly resulting in loss of funds. Erlay is a two-part proposal that first limits the number of peers to which a node will directly advertise transactions (default: 8) and, second, uses set reconciliation based on libminisketch with the remainder of its peers to avoid sending the txid of any transactions that the receiving peer has already seen. It was later shown that BIP34 was flawed in that there already existed some coinbase transactions before BIP34’s introduction that matched the height pattern for future block heights. So actually, yeah, I’ll talk about it there. And Rusty Russell proposed this on the Lightning-Dev mailing list, and there’s also a PR open with some changes and unfortunately due to time-zone restrictions, Rusty isn’t able to join us to talk about his proposa
/p>
Also included are a selection of popular questions and answers from the Bitcoin Stack Exchange and a short list of notable changes to popular Bitcoin infrastructure projects. Bastien Teinturier: Yeah, even though this creates also potential issues, because the commitment transaction right now, the fees are paid by the channel initiator. These technologies have the potential for significant or even transformational impact on CFTC-regulated markets and the agency itself. So, everyone should have a transaction they’re happy with now. So, when you have a channel non-initiator, maybe you have more of an incentive to force close than to mutual close because this way it’s going to be the channel initiator that will pay the fees. Mark Erhardt: I would say that working with the people at BitGo for a few years has made me way more paranoid, and I don’t think that anytime soon I’m going to be nearly as paranoid to want to do this. The best way to buy bitcoins at a physical location is at a Bitcoin ATM. Dex module Allows users to Buy your Tokens using their metamask/tr
w
et.
So, since our goal is rather to go in the direction of removing update fee entirely and using zero-fee commitment transactions, we’re just not going to bother changing how the fee is paid before we get to that point. And this way, we’ll be able to completely deprecate the older two versions at some point. Mike Schmidt: Okay, so each side gets a chance to propose and while you’re doing that communication, you’re also taking advantage of that interactivity point to also exchange nonces? Mike Schmidt: Well, it’s great to have some Lightning expertise for this newsletter, that’s for sure. Mike Schmidt: Yeah, I think it’s probably good to jump into the second news item, then we can continue some of this discussion. It’s Thursday, July 27, and we’ve got a great newsletter covering a couple of different Lightning news items, including the Lightning Network Summit and a bunch of takeaways from those notes. CSV, route hints; we have a couple of releases, 바이낸스 2FA (This Web-site) HWI and LDK to go over; and just a single lone Bitcoin
GUI PR to review. -
